Right before spring break we learned about our sense of sight. One of the learning outcomes is to describe how life is affected without a particular sense. So our class talked about losing our sense of sight. In groups the kids had to lead each other through the school safely. Overall they did quite well!
I hope that everyone had a fabulous spring break despite the weather! The kids will enjoy all of the fresh snow on the playground I'm sure! In saying so we are back to school tomorrow! Thanks to everyone who braved the snowy roads for our reader's theatre play "The Mitten". The kids loved having a "real" audience! If you did not see it don't worry you will have the chance to view it at our next Portfolio Walks on May 1st. Here are some pictures of the performance: Tomorrow is "get an extra 10 minutes" day. Send your child to school in pajamas and messy hair! Enjoy your extra few minutes! It sure has been a busy couple of weeks! Mrs. Currie has started her practicum and has been teaching more than 50% of the time. She is a wonderful addition to our class. Next Wednesday is "Sleep an extra 10 mins" day. Kids and teachers are encouraged to sleep those extra minutes and come to school with their tousled hair and pajamas! Looking forward to it! Thank you to those who sent in flyers today. We managed to get enough to do our assignment. You are invited to our Reader's Theatre play of "The Mitten". It will be at 12:30pm NEXT THURSDAY in the library. Hope to see you there! The March newsletter went home today. I have also uploaded it to the blog under the Newsletters tab.
Book orders are due next Monday. Friday was our 100th day of school! It is hard to believe that grade one is more than half way done! We did many different activities to celebrate how much we have learned. We started the morning by writing about what life would be like when we were 100 (what we would do, what we would look like, what we would want to eat, etc). Then we created a self portrait of what we thought we would look like at 100. They turned out pretty cute. We even crumpled our papers to make it look like we had wrinkles. In the afternoon we created our 100 day hats. Each hat had to have 10 groups (coloured construction paper) of 10 things (stickers). They were very colourful hats that the kids loved making. In gym the kids had to do 100 themed activities such as running for 100 seconds. They came back exhausted!
Thank you to everyone who sent in Kraft Dinner. We did grade level estimating and measuring today in the hallway! |
