Today we started to look closet at living things, specifically plants. We made a list of needs that a plant must have in order to be living. After we got to examine different kinds of seeds. We counted seeds by 1's and 5's then sorted them based on a single attribute! Check out the pics!

Today is Earth Day. We started the day with a video and story about Earth Day. Later on we did some writing about what we can do to help the Earth. Our class and Miss Longjohn's class even headed out to the playground to clean up some trash. I loved hearing the excitement when they found the "gold mine" against the fences!
In Roots of Empathy today we were surprised with a visit from baby William. We had not seen him since November due to whooping cough. He has sure grown and hit many milestones since we saw him. The kids were ecstatic when he was able to grab a toy all by himself! Here are a couple pics from our clean up and collaborative writing with Miss Longjohn's class. Note the flexible seating. Students choose where they feel comfortable and think they'll be successful working. Quite often you'll see kids at tables, sprawled on the floor or standing to complete their work. We have been super busy adjusting to our new school. The kids have been great with the new routines and structure. Today we joined Mrs. Secretan's class for gym. During Science we went outside to try to find living and nonliving things on our playground.
